When Houses Go Out of Style

It has been brought to my attention that the bubble will burst, and very soon houses, apartments, condos, and the like will have no value, and hence no longer be desirable as places to live. So as a prudent investor I need to find alternate ways to invest my time and money. Here are some alternatives I’ve come across.

Anyway, due to the absence of large buffalo herds, teepees may present a great opportunity to capitalize on this supply/demand thing regarding good 'skins'. The fewer skins available, the higher the price you will be able to get for them. Maybe that's where the term 'buffaloed' came from when someone describes how they got talked into purchasing a property for way over FMV. When you hear people talk of how they got 'skinned' in the market, now you'll know.

Anyway, another good way to invest in the coming market may be to raise trained beavers to hollow out big logs. That would allow a person just enough room to lie down and sleep away from the elements. You could stack them in a pyramid to create 'log cabin condos' without the need for things like walls and roofs, etc. Just be sure the beaver leaves one end of the log intact so he doesn't create 'breezeways'. You don't want to be selling 'pipe dreams', just good old fashion housing, the kind folks pine for.

Anyway, hay, here’s an idea. If you live in a farming community, straw houses may be the answer. Stacked bales, otherwise known as ‘bundlelows’, could become commonplace. Just be careful not to keep pets such as horses around or they will eat you out of house and home. Literally. Just because you ‘baled out’ of the last market won’t guarantee you financial success. Sooner or later this building material will become scarce, and it could be the last straw when the market goes against the grain. That popular guru course ‘Hay, What Could Go Wrong’ by Dusty Fields, talks about this kind of investing. You should read it.

Anyway, speaking of guru courses, ‘Flush Mom/Broke Mom’ has a colorful chapter, ‘Harvest Gold’, that contains a few kernels of knowledge about using corncobs as building materials. Yea, it’s a little corny when it gets to talking about ‘stalking’ opportunities, and looking for the ones that really pop, but the tapes are quite an earful. (BTW, it seems FM was really in tune with the frequencies of the market, and BM eventually went down the toilet. Go figure.)

Anyway, so when you hear about your market losing all of its value, just remember, there’s more than one way to skin a cat. But I’d go with the buffalo hides first.
